Cartoon depicting crew rescue by PBY aircraft following 2 December 1944 sinking

"56 of the USS Cooper survivors were picked up in the water off Ormoc Bay (Japanes held territory) and crammed into this PBY aircraft. The pilot taxied 3 miles on the water before the plane became airborne and flew us into Leyte. This brave pilot had 2 trips previous."
