Citation (in part): "...on 14 February 1945...his ship was severely damaged by the explosion of an enemy controlled mine. Although at the time a member of the deck force, he immediately ran to the flying bridge and reached the several seriously injured personnel...Without hesitation he made use of his experience as a pharmacists mate striker and treated casualties with great coolness and skill...S/ R.S. Berkey, Commander TF 74 Citation (in part):"...during an engagement with enemy naval forces...on the night of November 25, 1943. In this action the firing of the ship's guns disrupted the use of the equipment under Monfort's control. By his outstanding ability & thorough knowledge of the radio installations of the ship, the equipment was repaired in less than (10) minutes, thereby allowing vital information...to be relayed..." Citation (in part): ...in the vicinity of Green Island on February 20, 1944. Realizing that the pilot was in distress and in immenent danger of drowning, Lieutenant SHERIDAN, accompanied by two comrades, voluntarily left the safety of their ship and effected the rescue of the pilot."
