David Sears is a New
Jersey-based author, speaker and business consultant.
David's early career included
service as a United States Navy officer with extensive sea duty aboard destroyer
Gearing (DD-710) and a tour of duty as an advisor to the Vietnamese Navy during the
Vietnam conflict. David's Navy service and sea-going experience brings
unique authenticity,
perspective and

to veteran, school, civic and business groups.
At War with the Wind, to be published by Kensington
Books in September 2008, details the U.S. Navy's unprecedented air-sea duels with Japanese kamikaze
attackers. Based on extensive research and personal interviews with
hundreds of sailors, airmen and marines, At War with the Wind combines fast-paced narrative interwoven with the
real life exploits of young men who withstood
the savagery of Japan's last-ditch 'Divine Wind' campaigns. At War With
the Wind has been chosen as a main selection of the Military History
Book Club and as a featured alternate selection for the History Book Club.
Kirkus Reviews has enthusiastic praise for At War with the Wind:
-
"Former naval officer Sears writes
affectingly of the terror the “divine wind” campaign wrought on American
sailors."
-
"Sears does a particularly good job of
bringing in the various voices of the fast-dwindling corps of American
survivors of hellish engagements at Leyte and Okinawa, among other places."
-
"Of considerable interest to students of
the Pacific War."
David's earlier book
The Last Epic Naval
Battle: Voices of Leyte Gulf chronicles the exploits of 60
sailors and aviators in the last and most decisive sea battle of World War
II.
David's business consulting
expertise encompasses executive and professional staffing, compensation and
incentives, organizational change consulting, executive coaching and human
resources process engineering. His book
Successful Talent Strategies
has been published by AMACOM.
