At War with the Wind,
published by Kensington
Books in October 2008, details the U.S. Navy's unprecedented air-sea duels with Japanese kamikaze
attackers. Based on extensive research and personal interviews with
hundreds of sailors, airmen and marines, At War with the Wind combines fast-paced narrative interwoven with the
real life exploits of young men who withstood
the savagery of Japan's last-ditch 'Divine Wind' campaigns. At War With
the Wind, now in its second hardcover printing, has been a
main selection of the
Military Book Club
(read
full review) and a featured alternate selection for the
History Book Club.
The book has received wide editorial praise from
Kirkus Reviews
and
America in WW II
Magazine (February 2009).
David's earlier book
The Last Epic Naval
Battle: Voices of Leyte Gulf chronicles the exploits of 60
sailors and aviators in the last and most decisive sea battle of World War
II.
A forthcoming book, scheduled
for publication in Spring 2010, chronicles the true life heroes and exploits
that inspired James A. Michener's The Bridges at Toko-Ri.
Also in
2010, D.L.Sears will be publishing its first edition of "Tin Can Calendar" a
full-color calendar that honors the ships, sailors and traditions of
America's "Tin Can Navy" through breathtaking images by artist Thomas Calvin
Houtz and a chronicle of key historical dates and events. Tin Can
Calendar is a D.L.Sears Books exclusive. The 2010
edition, available now for customer order, focuses on
World War II-era destroyers, destroyer escorts and related craft.
